Welcome to the Southeast Louisiana Veteran's Health Care System Replacement Medical Center (Project Legacy) Clark/McCarthy Healthcare Partners website. Here you can learn more about some of the exciting healthcare projects getting underway and how you can join Clark/McCarthy and Woodward/Landis as part of a team that's destined to make construction history in New Orleans.

In September 2009, the Department of Veterans Affairs chose Clark/McCarthy Healthcare Partners as the Integrated Design and Construct (IDC) contractor for the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System Replacement Medical Center (Project Legacy). Similar to Construction Management in the private industry, IDC is an acquisition methodology that allows the constructor to interface with the Architect of Record, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and End-User groups during the period from Design Development through 100% completion of each Work Package.

This project marks a new day in many respects for the Department of Veterans Affairs, and will forever mark the New Orleans history pages as one of the single-largest construction projects in the city’s history. Project Legacy is a multi-building campus covering twelve city blocks totaling 29 acres. Buildings include Inpatient, Diagnostic and Treatment, Outpatient, Transitional Living and Rehabilitation, Research, Administration, Central Energy Plant and two separate parking structures. Total gross square footage of the project is approximately 1.6 million sq. ft. plus an additional 800,000 gsf of parking structure.

The Clark/McCarthy Healthcare Partners team is made up of two distinguished and diverse companies with unparalleled experience in building large-scale projects. Clark Construction Group, LLC, has participated directly in building hundreds of hospitals and currently has numerous more under construction. McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is the nation’s largest American-based healthcare builder, having constructed more than 800 significant acute care healthcare projects across the country. Our associated team members, Woodward Design+Build and Landis Construction Co., LLC bring a solid foundation of long-term local subcontractor relationships to maximize participation across the spectrum of majority and minority subcontractors and suppliers.

Clark/McCarthy Healthcare Partners is excited to be part of this monumental effort, and we all look forward to providing the Department of Veterans Affairs with not only a beautiful, new state-of-the-art medical facility, but a New Orleans landmark that its military, veterans and civilian residents are proud of and its visitors will remember for a lifetime.

Project Legacy truly is a special gateway to a very special community. All of us involved in these various projects are proud to be a part of the VA's future, and we invite you to regularly visit our website for the latest information on bid packages and procurement schedules, calendar of events, and helpful links to technical assistance providers.
